25+ Employees whose coworkers are driving them up the wall: 'It was easily the worst shift I ever had'

Throwitaway9009y The day she got fired, she texted the manager that she needed to come in late. And leave early. And she wanted her old shift back (she'd been switched to a later time because she was constantly calling off or coming in late.) Also, she needed a raise.
  • 02
We found out that she had been posting sh about employees and the business on facebook. Where she was friends with half of the staff at aforementioned business. Pretty sure she was stealing too.

DasCthulhu I have a co worker who insists on talking to me like I have 0 knowledge in my field despite me actually having more experience and a higher job title than him. He also lectures people like he is their manager even if they have been there longer than him. I even listened to him "reprimand" his own

neverbelieveagain I work in a dog grooming salon. My coworker "A" is a self-professed "cat person". She doesn't like our customers, she doesn't like most dogs. She complains if she's booked dogs, she complains if she isn't booked dogs. She somehow never managed to commission, and complains about that too.
  • 06
She never helps clean, and when I close with her she will disappear because at 8:30pm apparently she has to take a twenty minute in the bathroom. She claims to be allergic to most foods but still eats McDonalds and Burger King. She allegedly has Celiac's disease but has never been tested. She also is allergic to cats, flowers, latex, almost anything. Despite claiming

    This guy is the worst

Bli... His name is Tyler. I use to work at a convenience store that use to solely be open between the hours 7am and 11pm. At this point in my life I had been there for about 6 years. Well they hired Tyler because he is the son of one of the regular customers.
  • 11
They place him on my shift and it was easily the worst shift I ever had. Normally I work 7am to 3pm, but that day I had to stay till 5pm because I was so behind on the things I needed to do. On this day our order was larger than normal because our 2 ordering bosses were away on vacation the past week so it was 2 weeks worth of items being delivered.
  • 12
He had been there for about 3 weeks at this point. Most training is about a week long before you are being placed on regular shifts. But not for Tyler! Here is a list of the reasons I was behind on my work:
  • 13
. Every other customer I had to stop the transaction and fix the mistakes he was making (scanning items 3-4 times without noticing). Each time I walked him through how to delete an item off the list so he could do it himself if he missed up.
  • 14
    • I would walk away to start putting order items on the shelves and look up 2 minutes later to see a line of 6 people at the register • Took 45 minutes to change 6 trashcans, all of which were in a 10ft by 4 ft square of each other. I sat there at the register watching him watch the same 6 commercials that were on the TV.
  • 15
. Constantly had to cancel orders because he forgot to place the total they payed him and didn't understand how to give people change without seeing the change total on the screen. His way to fix this was re-ring ALL the items again and put the change in the second time.
  • 16
I explained each time how to count change without it and explain that you can't just re-ring items because it throws off totals in the system. ⚫ had to talk to several of those customers because Tyler ended up cursing in front of them.
  • 17
    • had to talk to several customers because Tyler had given them raw food instead of the cooked food (we had a system, Cooked food is in front of the sign, raw behind it. He constantly grabbed the food behind the sign).
  • 18
All of which put me two hours behind on my work. My boss ended up having to drop what he was doing and help me when Tyler left at 3 and our 2 replacements came in. edit: He was there another week. He told the boss last minute he was going on a 3 week long vacation and our boss just told him to not come back to the store.

RealFunnyTalk Here's a story of 4 people being fired in one day for different reasons, a 5th unknown stealing money, and my 17 year old self wondering how did I get myself here? Worked at a family owned fast food Italian place. Nice job, easy work, free food, decent hours, not bad for 17 year old high schooler.

I check the schedule forwho I'm working with tomorrow and its Manager A and co- worker A that then switch shifts (I was across two shifts, after lunch and closing) with Manager B and Co-worker B. They're all decent I suppose, though one blatantly did hour fraud (came in at 830, entered time as 8).
  • 21
Shift goes to switch so and the Bs and As brief each other on what's happening. Owner and Manager C (who's the best one, no illegal stuff) come in and tell them all to pack up and leave. Turns The As were in a relationship and were stealing money to fuel her pill addiction. The Bs were in the office caught (manager was married) plus Bs hour fraud and were also fired. This all happens as I'm
  • 22
cleaning a table bewildered. Thinking his stealing issues were over, owner leaves and Manager C calls employees to fill in for tomorrow's vacancies. Turns out, someone ELSE steals from the register the next day and we're all told to submit to a lie detector test. Manager C comes up to me and says "RealFunny Talk, we're closing so you don't
  • 23
have to come in anymore." "But what about the lie detector test?" "Even if you told me you did it, I wouldn't believe you. You're fine." That last part was nice (I didn't steal it by the way). TL;DR second job ever and I see 4 people get fired at once for different stuff, a 5th also stealing.

whateverismyuser... I had a coworker who was employed in the role above me in the management chain. We both started the job on the same day and it was a short term contract, about 3 months. After a week, she realises that she can't handle the job; keeps losing vital paperwork, telling clients wrong information, paying staff the wrong amounts. She's too
  • 31
proud to quit, but she has a card: her coeliac disease (i.e. a dangerous inability to digest gluten, meaning that wheat products make her incredibly sick.) She eats an entire loaf of bread on her lunch break and ends up in hospital, and quits the job because of her ill health. I have to take on her job as well as my own, doing 2 jobs for 3 months, because we
  • 32
can't find anyone to replace her. Worst of all, my other coworker has her on Facebook, and we discover that she spent several weeks in Disneyland after she was released from hospital. I don't think she'll be getting much more work from that company.

thelittleblueones This happened a few years. back. I'm a pharmacist in a rural area. Being in a rural area, it is sometimes difficult to hire pharmacy technicians who are both good at the job and willing to work for what my company pays. This shallow applicant pool led us to hiring Sharon.
  • 34
Sharon was in her mid-40s, giving her about 20 years on me. She had a problem accepting my authority, reminding me almost daily how she had a daughter a year older than me. When I asked Sharon to do something she didn't want to do, she would become temporarily deaf and very engrossed in whatever activity she wanted to do.
  • 35
When I complained to the pharmacy manager he promised to talk to her every time... and then never did because he was a spineless, weasely thief severely lacking in testicular fortitude (and ended up getting fired for those reasons further down the line). • Sharon was also under 5 feet tall. To compensate for this, she brought a used,
  • 36
unwashed pair of grill tongs to use as a grabber for items she couldn't reach. She couldn't reach about half the items on the shelf. She filled about 15 prescriptions and got grease all over the stock bottles before I noticed and made her go wash the tongs. Being a middle aged woman, she was prone to hot flashes. I am usually cold at room temperature
  • 37
and wear sweaters to work in summer to compensate for the AC. Sharon got the brilliant idea to heat a bag of rice in the microwave and put it on the thermostat to force the AC to come on, which I suspect was out of spite as much as for her comfort. One day, she set the timer to 10 minutes and fell asleep in the break room (more on that later). The entire store smelled like burnt rice for hours. The
  • 38
store manager went nuclear. When I was working with Sharon, customers would often assume she was the pharmacist ask her questions that only a pharmacist could answer. She would attempt to perform patient consultations, which is illegal in my state, then wear her ass on her shoulders the rest of the
  • 39
day after I jumped in and corrected her. • On a few other occasions, she dispensed emergency supplies to patients under a floater pharmacist's login without asking him - also illegal. One of the emergency supplies was for a dig in an unbreakable package, which she broke, rendering it unsellable and damaging ~$400 of product.
  • 40
Skimming over the rest of the petty bulls, including multiple absences and tardies (only on days she worked with me), what finally ended her employment was smoking meth in her vehicle in the parking lot on her lunch break. We didn't catch her in the act, but she came back obviously high on something and unable to control her movements.
  • 41
Loss prevention got involved. Rather than terminating her employment, she was put on a program requiring her to check in to see if she had to be dog tested daily. Failure to do so meant automatic termination. Shortly after she was arrested for domestic violence with the commonlaw (ex?) husband, meaning she didn't check in

Exx... The work canteen was far too small for everyone to use, besides it was kind of the territory of the shop floor workers anyway. This meant us office folk ate at our desks. Some days it was mingled with Lynx as I actually think he believed in the "shower in a can" nonsense.

K80doesKeto My old boss was a nutcase. She removed her cubicle wall so she could watch us. No one was allowed to come talk to us about work or request anything from us without going through her first. If anyone came to our area to talk to us she would come stomping out of her cube and interrupt. She would follow us and eavesdrop on our

conversations, but only hear parts of them and then get angry because she misunderstood what she heard. She required us to send our work to her, which she would then send to whomever it was we were supposed to be working with, but take all the credit. Except she didn't know anything so she would have to come back with a million questions about it if they

Once she made a girl on my team cry and then followed her to the bathroom to yell at her some more; her manager had to be called in to separate them. She would wander around through other departments trying to enforce a dress code on them. And finally she told
  • 54
my coworker she got low scores on her reviews because she was pregnant. Even after all that it took more than a year of huge turnover and everyone on our team, plus countless people in other departments, making formal complaints about her, for HR to finally pull the trigger because she was buddies with the head of the HR department.

Cal... Oh Christ, this was so recent. He was one of those guys who seems cool at first, then gets comfortable with you and turns into the most annoying bag on earth. • 56
because I was nice to him in the beginning. The first thing he did that got the whole thing kicked off once his comfort levels got too high, was purposely bump into me hard while I was holding a scalding hot cup of coffee, spilling it on my hand and thinking it was funny while he walked away laughing. A couple days later, he proceeded to tell me how his breath smelled like onions from the salad he

out of the office. The day he left he said "keep in touch" and I ignored it to which he responded "oh way to dodge the question". Awkward. I didn't hear from him for 2 weeks, and I thought he was gone. Then came the text message "what's up man, let's catch up some time, how have you been?". God | replied with a 2 or 3 word response, then didn't reply to his follow up text, thinking
  • 62
he got the hint. Then the next week comes, he calls me, leaves a message asking to call him back to catch up, then texts me, then that night sends a work related email, so I replied to that the next day saying sorry I didn't call back I've been busy. "What have you been busy with?". I didn't reply. 3 weeks go by, he must have gotten the hint.
  • 63
Phone goes off "what's up man how have you been?!". F ! I don't reply. 3 days later "why are you ignoring me dude? :'(". I didn't reply, then the next day, there he is, showed up in the office and came over to talk to me. He started talking about how he wanted to start working out and was thinking of joining my gym to workout with me, and I flat out told him no. I don't workout with people, I'm not
  • 64
training anyone, and I don't want a workout partner. I told him even if he joined the gym, he and I wouldn't talk to each other because I don't go there to socialize, I go there to get the job done. He was a little offended, I don't care. Seriously, this f has mental problems. I have never had anyone obsess over me before, let alone not be able to get the hint I don't want anything to do

with them, and it creeps me the f out. I'm hoping after our last encounter he'll be gone. If he bothers me again, I'm reporting him to HR for harassment. My god that was long. Sorry. End rant.

gru... I used to work with two people in catering. One was this she girl who never really talks much so you'd assume she'd ask no questions or wouldn't complain when you ask or instruct her to do things. Her first day, I was showing. her around and teaching her about the kitchen tools and equipment and telling her
  • 69
what their names are. She held a pen and paper but she didn't take notes but she nodded and nodded so I assumed she understood and absorbed everything i was saying. Fast forward a couple of days later, i asked her to hand me the frying pan, she handed me a cookie sheet. Maybe she was nervous, so i just shrugged it off. After that, i asked her to turn the stove on and melt the butter on it
  • 70
because we were kinda in a rush. As soon as i finished slicing and dicing the ingredients that were to be sautéed, the butter still wasn't melted and the stove wasn't on yet. I kept calm because i didn't want her to think that i was this know-it- all senior. The following week, i moved. her to dishwashing because maybe that'd be something she can do. So we were all
  • 71
busy and productive and we didn't really use that much on said week so there weren't really that much things that were needed to be washed. So she was getting started with washing the used utensils until I thought that maybe she'll get overwhelmed so i offered to help her. She told me she's good and that she got this. After washing like 10 plates, she goes to my other senior friend and tells
  • 72
her she's leaving because she's already "tired". When i noticed that she left, i went to the sink and lo and behold, the water was still running, spoons, forks, bowls, and knives were still unwashed and the plates. she washed wasn't even stacked properly. i finished the dishes and called it a day. That night, my friend messaged me and told me
  • 73
that the very competent coworker who was already tired tweeted about how I bu ied her and bossed her around and how I was treating her like a subhuman. Eventually, I didn't even bother acknowledging her and she kept up with that behavior until our superior payed us a surprise visit in the kitchen. Superior asked her why she's just standing idly, she said nobody instructed her
  • 74
to do things, superior then lectured her about initiative and the following day, she went AWOL and never came back. The other one also used to work with us and the main character from the previous story. Unlike character A, character B was very diligent and cheerful and very active, or so I thought. What i found unpleasant about her is how sometimes
  • 75
she doesn't know how to separate personal matters from professional matters. One moment she'd be all "hey, let's work, let's finish this", the next she'd go "i wanna fucken di " and bring her phone out and mope around in the corner. Then one time, i caught her flirting with my ex (who's a dude cuz i'm gay and also happens to work with us) and suddenly stopped listening to me when I

instruct her to do things. One day, we were all working on this major event and were each going to be paid a huge amount of money for said event. Our call time was 6:00AM and the event starts at 12:15PM. There were 150 people we had to cater to so we indeed had to start early. Each of us were designated to work on different dishes and after finishing the first task, you
  • 77
move on to the next one (like, after preparing the salad, you start seasoning the chicken). There were 20 of us in the kitchen so you can only imagine the pressure. So 5:45 AM, I got there and there were only 6 of us. We didn't mind because our call time was 6 so we started bringing out the things we need to use and the ingredients that took time to

either thaw or whatever. 6:15, 19 of us were already busy working and are already doing good. 11:30am The people working on the appetizers were getting worried because they're short of one member. 12:00nn, character B walks in, not in uniform, but in full makeup. She doesn't even apologize and EVERYONE WAS P ED AS F . She started working on the appetizers and after
  • 79
preparing 15 plates, she went missing. Now my buddy and I were already done with everything and wouldn't need to do things until later so we decided to go outside and smoke a few ciggs. While walking we saw Character B sitting in a corner with her friends who were also in full makeup laughing like nobody's business. i didn't call her
  • 80
attention because it'd be rode of me to call out a coworker who was chilling with friends while having ice cream. After smoking, we went back to the kitchen and I talked to the people in charge of the appetizers. Good thing was 145 plates were already done and i asked them if they saw character B, they said they didn't know where she was.
  • 81
As if on cue, character B walks in and slowly starts working on the 5 remaining dishes. i asked her where she's been. she told me she felt hungry and tired (after coming in 6 hours late and working on 15 plates while everyone did like 40+ and came early). a very tired and frustrated me told her how everybody came here on time, did their part and only left the kitchen to either smoke for 3 minutes or pee
  • 82
and how everybody was tired and hungry and how none of us went out to go have ice cream with friends. The best part was she still got paid the full amount. TL;DR: New coworkers seemed promising and diligent, boy was I mistaken.
